Valeria Necchio is a writer, journalist, copywriter and editor based in Venice, Italy.

In her writing, she explores creative nonfiction, memoir, and essays on matters of food, travel and culture. She often writes and curates projects on Venice and the Veneto, two places she investigates through the lens of food or through interviews, reportages and features aimed at capturing the bigger picture. She also writes about Italian culture at large.

Watermarked is a space for the exploration of literary non-fiction and auto-fiction. It comes in the form of a newsletter containing daily-life vignettes, fragments of reflections, and snippets of conversations matched with black & white photography. It’s her most instinctual writing practice.

Veneto is a memoir-slash-cookbook on the food of Valeria’s origins. It was published in 2017 by Faber and contains 100 recipes dovetailed with personal anecdotes and regional culinary notes. It’s her first and only recipe book. In it, she poured everything she had to say on the matter. She now focuses on other genres.

Valeria collaborates with brands and agencies to produce copy and consult on editorial and curatorial projects spanning travel, culture and lifestyle.

Over the years, she has curated, written and edited words and visuals for Slow Food, Natoora, Venissa, Edipo Re, Hotel Flora, Casa Flora, Inside Venice, Cordusio Spirits, EGR, Lungarotti, Ruffino, among others. She has also scripted and given voice to videos for creative agencies including Marea and Panglossian.
