Valeria Necchio is a writer and creative consultant based in Venice, Italy.

In her writing, she explores creative nonfiction, memoir, and essays on matters of food, travel and culture. She often writes about and curates editorial projects on Venice and the Veneto, two places she investigates through the lens of food or through interviews, reportages and features aimed at capturing the bigger picture. She also writes about Italian culture at large.

Watermarked is a space for the exploration of personal narrative. It comes in the form of a newsletter containing daily-life vignettes, reflections, and fragments of conversations matched with B&W photography. It’s Valeria’s most intimate and instinctual writing practice.

Veneto is a memoir-slash-cookbook on the food of Valeria’s origins. Published in 2017 by Faber, it contains 100 recipes dovetailed with personal anecdotes and regional culinary notes.

Food remains at the core of her exploration—of people, places and the self—though she now embraces a diverse range of genres beyond the recipe.

Alongside her writing practice, Valeria collaborates with brands and agencies to create narratives and consult on culture-rich projects spanning food practices, travel, and the relationship between people, history and the environment.

Over the years, she has curated, written and edited words and visuals for Slow Food, Natoora, Venissa, Edipo Re, Hotel Flora, Casa Flora, Inside Venice, Cordusio Spirits, EGR, Lungarotti, Ruffino, Starhotels, and Belmond, among others.

She has taken pictures for food and hospitality brands for scopes from sites to socials, and has scripted and given voice to short films for campaigns.

In Venice, she is the co-founder of creative work club Versatile.
