Impressions: Salento
We used Maglie as the starting point of our explorations of the Southern Coast of Puglia. Tiny rocky inlets and long spreads of sand and everything in between. Turquoise water that lures the many divers into its dark depths. Dryness, prickly pears, figs, wild fennel, and century-old olive trees consumed by a horrible plague. Naps under the pine trees South of Otranto. Raw seafood dinners by the coast just off Santa Maria di Leuca. Orecchiette and moonlight at Lilith. Bocconotti, friselle, and one too many caffé leccesse with freshly-baked bocconotti consumed under the shade of an ornate Baroque church.
